Financial Counselling Program
The Financial Counselling program is a free service for people who are experiencing some form of financial stress due to their particular financial circumstances.
Financial counsellors offer assistance with budgeting, information on how to deal with your bank debts and other creditors, advocacy and assistance with filing for bankruptcy.
Financial counsellors outreach to Cobram, Yarrawonga, Euroa, Violet Town and Seymour and some after-hours appointments are available in Shepparton.
One-on-one and Group Education Programs
The Financial Literacy Program assists people with improving financial knowledge, skills, capabilities and financial resilience. Support is free and provided either one on one or by attendance at a Group Education Program (called Money Business).
The Money Business course covers:
- Money Planning (money decisions and prioritising)
- Savings and spending (spending leaks, shopping tips, needs versus wants)
- Goal setting
- Introduction to banking (opening accounts, account types, different ways to pay, fees)
- Credit and credit cards
- What is debt?
- The cost of credit
- Money Loans
- Consumer rights and responsibilities
