The Refugee Health Nurse program works collaboratively with settlement services and doctors clinics to promote and provide the best access to health care possible in Shepparton and surrounding areas for refugees and asylum seekers.
The program is based around the health requirements and needs of newly arrived refugees and asylum seeker clients.
The aim of the program is to provide support and education regarding the health needs of our clients. The program is also accessible to refugees and asylum seekers who are not newly arrived and have lived in the community for multiple years. The program provides education around health conditions and how to treat the conditions as well as supporting the individuals and families with these health concerns. We assist with education around diabetes, tuberculosis, hepatitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy as well as many different conditions.
